Hands-down, the best Brunswick stew in Hall County. I wish they did more than three days a week, but I stock up every time I get a chance. Their Brunswick stew literally taste amazing with every scoop you get and it just hits your tongue like nothing else.

Good ole fashioned southern style cafeteria buffet. I have never experienced one until Longstreet, and all expectations I had going in were exceeded. The greens were probably my favorite, but everything was delicious. I would highly recommend trying if you are in the area. I enjoyed this unique experience, and it left me wanting to come back and try more of their food.

Enjoyed a wonderful home style lunch with 6 adults 7 kids. Got there early to get a big table. Cafeteria style service. You serve your own plate. Wonderful selection and delicious. I had fried fish, others had fried chicken, chicken fingers, dressing, green beans. French fries, rice, etc! Banana pudding, peach cobbler, strawberry shortcake were hits. Rolls, cornbread, muffins, etc. Really enjoyed it. Recommended by 2 different friends!

I used to go to Longstreet Cafe many times for breakfast during my Senior year of high school. I have always enjoyed their biscuits and the homey atmosphere the restaurant brought in. I haven’t been back at Longstreet for years due to college and a busy work schedule, but I recently found time to go back and see how the place has been. I went around 4:30pm when dinner service starts and I initially couldn’t turn into the main parking lot as a queue of cars had formed on Riverside Terrace leading to the drive through. I was able to park in the lower parking deck and made my way inside. The dinning hall still had that homey feel to it as I made my way to the line to select my food. I ended up getting a grilled Tilapia filet, mashed potatoes & gravy, macaroni & cheese, some squash casserole and banana pudding with a drink of sweet tea. I sat down with my food after paying and observed around me the sports memorabilia and old photos on the wall taking me back to the old days. They even have signed football jerseys of Deshaun Watson who was a year younger than me when I was at GHS. Out of all the food items I got, it was the mashed potatoes that stood out for me. They tasted good and with a texture that you can feel that it was homemade. It was surprising for me to find out that Longstreet Cafe has been opened since 1997! With such a big and loyal customer base, I had initially thought it had been around much longer. Well with good home style southern cooking, cordial customer service and traditional atmosphere, this place will certainly be a longtime eatery in Gainesville.

Thank you for the food, the service and the atmosphere on Saturday , at lunch. Everyone was so friendly , helpful and courteous! However, the biggest surprise was the young man playing the soprano sax. His arrangements are A#1 professional . The quiet , soft music was perfect for lunch. THANK YOU FOR A GREAT EXPERIENCE!

This is an old fashioned buffet with "home cooked" selections! Oh my! Food was delicious, table service for beverages served with kindness and a smile plus a good price. We got there for dinner when they opened at 5 & the place was packed! Parking was a challenge with drive through vehicles around the building but we found parking within a short walk. Once Inside, you have to wait in line while others fill their plates but 10 minutes wasn't bad because there's plenty of articles on the walls telling the history of the Longstreet family, the restaurant and the community. I felt blessed at religious items on display but not intimidated or uncomfortable with that. A nice surprise was a gentleman playing the clarinet with perfect music at just the right volume. We had 6 family members with us as we were visiting for the week. This was their suggestion for our family outing and we couldn't have been more pleased with their recommendation!
